Robert Risner, age 58, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020, with his oldest brother, Kenny, by his side.
Robert was born April 20, 1962 to Hank and Juanita Risner. He was the middle child and was born and raised in Orangeville. Robert is best remembered for his humor, his larger than life laugh, and his love for his pet black bear “Cuddles” and his dog “Buddy”.
He was also a favorite of many children. He would do anything for kids, and his family, even though he didn’t have any children of his own. He especially loved Baby Evelinn and always looked forward to seeing her on family Zoom calls.
Robert spent his work life in the woods, logging with many local companies. He was fortunate to be able to work for many years with his closest friends, Dan Bacon, Mike Bourdo, Tommy and Johnny Montes, to name a few.
Robert was known as a very good softball player in his 20s and 30s. Teammates and family gave him the nickname “Rooftop” because he could hit the ball farther than most. He played with his three brothers and family members, including John Marshall, Brad Marshall, Wayne Bourdo, and many other great friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Hank and Juanita Risner.
He is survived by his three brothers, Kenny, Gordie, and Brian; sister, Annette; nieces, Jennifer, Samantha, and Hailee; nephews, Jason, Kenny, Kurt, and Tyler; along with several great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by very special friends and family: Chad and Travis Risner, his “second mom” Mel, Dan “Boone” Bacon, Ronnie Stampfler, Frank Montes, Sue and Mike Ritchie, and Mike “Rooster” Bourdo.
Memorial services and celebration of his life with friends and family will be held Sunday, April 18, 2021, 1 p.m., at the Orangeville Township Hall at the softball diamond.
